Securing Shinken inter process/server messaging.
1 commentHMAC message digests for signing pyro messages. (Pyro is the messageing framework that Shinken runs on). This feature is available starting at Pyro 4.04.
This would be a good first step in securing default Shinken installations.

Add your commentScreen are "huge" nowadays, do why do not use the horizontal scale to show more than one graph? At least 2 are easy to show in a 22" screen :)

User profiles
Add your commentI would suggest having user profiles that are stored across sessions. This user profile can have a default setting and also remember things like: Dashboard entity groups selections, list of links in main dashboard.
Roles should be assigned to users.

Acknowledge message
Add your commentWhen we acknowledge an alarm, we acknowledge the alarm status.
Example :
Warning on a disk => acknowledge
Warning on a second disk => the message change but not the status => the acknowledge isn't removed.
It would be great if there is a "soft" acknowledge which is removed in case of status change OR message change.

- Correlation rules
- WebUI session options
- Hosts and their properties
- Services and their properties
Any changes need to be checked for validity prior to commiting to the configuration.
Any changes done to the configuration need to be consigned to an audit log.

"Correlator" object, to match some output/status criterias

In the UI it can be good to have different "group of things" that can be good to display and aggregate. Some will want to show some geographic dispatch, other want a technical view, other business elements. Storing the configuration in a database
2 commentsI suggest you store the Shinken configuration in a SQL/noSQL back-end database, instead of current flat-files. Any configuration stored in the database should be exportable/importable to and from a strongly typed format files that are still readable. (JSON, YAML, etc.)
